The Third Session of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference has concluded in Beijing.

Chinese leaders including President Hu Jintao, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao attended the closing ceremony.

The session passed a political resolution, which calls on all political parties within the CPPCC and people of all ethnicity and from all walks of life to unite and contribute to the building of a harmonious society.

The resolution fully supports the formulation of the anti-secession law, saying enacting the law gives full expression to the mainland's consistent position of doing its utmost efforts with maximum sincerity for a peaceful reunification.

The session urges all CPPCC members to unite all patriotic people at home and abroad to firmly oppose and defuse "Taiwan Independence" secessionist activities to promote peaceful and stable development of cross-straits relations and contribute to the reunification of the motherland.

During the session, more than 2,200 CPPCC members heard and discussed the government work report and explanations made on the draft anti-secession law.

The CPPCC members also held discussions on issues that people are concerned about, as well as some other major issues including the economy, politics, and issues of social and cultural importance.

A total of 4,508 proposals have been made from CPPCC members and other political parties and communities attending the CPPCC session, since it opened on March 3rd.
